After Laurelyn Prescott walks away from the love of her life, she returns to Nashville to pursue the only dream she has left. Determined to find a distraction from the pain of losing Jack Henry, she immerses herself in her music. But with her old life comes old acquaintances and new expectations. When Laurelyn refuses her record producer’s outrageous demands, she finds herself without a career—until an unforeseen opportunity presents itself. From there it’s a rocket ride straight to the top where Laurelyn finds the success she’s always dreamed of. Will it be enough to bring her the happiness she so deserves, or will the absence of Jack Henry leave her wanting more? Jack Henry McLachlan never expected to fall in love with Laurelyn Prescott—but he did. After he foolishly let her slip through his fingers, he spends three months searching for her, but their reunion doesn’t come easy. The woman he finds isn’t the same one who drifted away without a goodbye. No longer an insecure girl on an Australian adventure, this Laurelyn is a successful musician with a promising career. Her dreams are becoming a reality, and Jack is terrified his American girl won’t have a place for him in her new life. With only a month to convince her otherwise, will it be enough time to make her visualize a life beyond the glitz and glamour, a life that includes him?

What is definitely not part of the plan is the return of her long-lost father, who claims he can bring Allison's mother back from the dark place her mind has gone. Allison doesn't trust her father, so why would she believe his stories about a long forgotten Irish people, the Tuatha de Danaan? But truths have a way of revealing themselves. Secrets will eventually surface. And Allison must learn to set aside her plan and work with her father if there is even a small chance it could restore her mother's sanity.

About Laura Howard
Laura Howard lives in New Hampshire with her husband and four children. Her obsession with books began at the age of 6 when she got her first library card. Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High and other girly novels were routinely devoured in single sittings. Books took a backseat to diapers when she had her first child. It wasn’t until the release of a little novel called Twilight, 8 years later, that she rediscovered her love of fiction. Soon after, her own characters began to make themselves known. The Forgotten Ones is her first published novel.

REVIEW: Dangerous (Dangerous #1) by Suzannah Daniels

Stone Hamilton had never known fear...until the accident. Since then, his life has spiraled out of control. He's been kicked out of private school, deemed a disappointment by his father, and forced to endure his own guilt, anger, and grief. The last thing he wants is a relationship with someone who will have expectations of him. But once he's enticed by the shimmering pink lips of the oh-so-popular, academically-excelling, straitlaced hottie from his new school, he knows he's in trouble.

Seventeen-year-old Dara Golding has one goal for the summer: make enough money to buy a car, so that she can drive to school her senior year. After starting a new job, she realizes that she'll be working with the brooding, motorcycle-riding, bad boy who started attending Quail Mountain High last year. With his less than stellar reputation, he's everything she's afraid of...and that makes him dangerous.

Their undeniable attraction has Stone struggling with his inner demons. As Dara slowly allows Stone to claim her heart, a little white lie to cover an ugly truth could determine whether she's his savior or the final straw that will break his sanity.

My Thoughts:

The warmth from his hands was like heaven against my icy skin, but his close proximity was dangerous to my hammering heart. In fact, if I had to describe Stone Hamilton in one word, it would be dangerous.

Whenever I read a book I never go back and reread the book description before I start. I love to go in with an element of surprise. When I started reading Dangerous, for some reason I thought it was a paranormal book, so I kept waiting for that aspect to be introduced. I think maybe the title had me thinking that, but I'm not too sure. Anyway, it's a contemporary. No paranormal whatsoever.

Dangerous is told in the alternating voices of our two main characters Stone Hamilton and Dara Golding. Dara is sweet and popular and has just broken up with her longterm boyfriend Chance. Her main goal is to start her new job at the local bookstore and save enough money to buy herself a car. Stone is in his own words "Conceited and a badass". He has no desire to have a girlfriend. He chooses girls who like things just like him. No strings attached. He is broody and loves nothing more than the feeling of being free when he's riding his motorbike. Both have had to deal with some horrible tragedies in their lives and they both carry the scars of those things with them.

He kissed me gently at first. but then he nibbled at my lip and his tongue slipped into my mouth. I wasn't just being kissed. I was being devoured.

Stone and Dara are going to be working closely together at the bookstore. Dara knows Stones reputation, but she can't help the draw that she feels towards him. Stone lets Dara in. She asks questions that make him think. And he finds himself wanting more than the shallow hookups that he's had in the past. But love never runs smooth and Stone and Dara are going to have their feelings for each other tested on more than one occasion. Will they each think that the other is worth fighting for?

Eventually, she'd know more about me than she really wanted to know. I had told Dara too much already. Better that I not delude myself with dreams of grandeur. There was no rewind button. No clicking an undo arrow. This was my life, and it sucked.

Suzannah Daniels has written a story that was incredibly easy to read. The writing flowed really well and kept me interested throughout. The two main characters were likeable and I really enjoyed experiencing Stone and Dara's romance through the eyes of both of them. Stone has a big ego. His opinion of himself is pretty crazy but I felt for the most part it was pretty tongue in cheek and who can't help but fall in love with the motorcycle riding bad boy!! The secondary character that I enjoyed the most was Granny. She's got spunk and she had me grinning at some of the things that she would say, but she is also incredibly loving and caring.

I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next for the characters and discovering more insight to a few things left open in book one.

4/5 Stars!!

BOOK BLITZ - EXCERPT & GIVEAWAY: Of Silver and Beasts (Goddess Wars #1) by Trisha Wolfe

***Excerpt***
“What’s your rank, baby blue eyes?” the guy asks, pushing off his cot and stalking toward the prince. Everything in me screams to act, but I don’t want to declare alliances this early on. Not without understanding the dynamic of placements and bonds already formed among these people. But I’ll not let this hulk of a man harm the prince. I brace my heel against the wall, ready to push off and lunge. Prince Caben rises to his feet, slowly turning to face him. He straightens his spine, squaring his shoulders. “I don’t have one. And my name is Payne. Not ‘baby blue eyes’, meathead.” Big guy laughs, his husky voice bounces off the rock walls. “I’m Crew”—he beats his chest hard once, like a barbarian—“and I’ve won three fights. I’ll win the next two and be the one awarded the freedom ring.” He leans down toward Prince Caben, leveling their faces. “So don’t even think about you or your princess over there walking out of here. I’m ranked as a Colossal. The strongest Colossal in Bax’s league.” Princess? I nearly scoff. Then I realize what the problem with Crew is: he feels threatened by Prince Caben. That revelation almost makes me laugh out right. What does a big stack of muscles like Crew have to fear from the prince? The other prisons slowly circle around the stand-off in the center of the cell. Tension thickens the musty air. It coils around my spine, tightening my muscles. If I allow the fight to continue without interruption, will the guards stop it? They’d want their fighters in pristine shape, wouldn’t they? Prince Caben doesn’t back away from Crew. Instead, he moves into his space. I roll my eyes. Stupid, conceited man. “Freedom ring?” the prince questions. “As in, there’s a chance to leave?” He rubs his chin, and I notice the dark shadow of facial hair that has darkened his features overnight. “Is there a season that has to be won, or can someone gain five wins during their entire imprisonment?” Crew’s eyebrows pinch together. He’s clearly despondent that he hasn’t succeeded in intimidating the prince. “We’re in a season right now, you weakling. If you don’t win—you’re dead. Which by the looks of you, will happen in your first match.” Prince Caben nods, as if he’s simply piecing together a jigsaw puzzle and not being told of his demise. “What is the cuff for?” He points to the iron clamp around Crew’s wrist. “It’s our biometric monitor.” Crew shoves the cuff up close to the prince’s face. “See those three blue lights? Those are my wins. When the fifth lights up, I’m outta’ here.” “Has anyone ever won the freedom ring before?” Prince Caben asks. Crew’s massive arms tremble. “No,” he grinds out. “But I will.” He cocks his cuffed hand back, then sends a blow to Prince Caben’s chin. Hell. I’m up and racing across the cell before the prince hits the ground. Crew spots me from his peripheral. He turns and swipes the air. I duck, roll, and come up behind him. I jump on the cot and leap onto his back. “You squirrely little ...” he mumbles, trying to reach over his shoulders to get a hold on me. Tightening my arms around his thick neck, I squeeze. He gasps for air, and rams my back into the wall. I wheeze as the air whooshes from my lungs, pain splintering through my already bruised chest. But I hold tight, bearing down harder, and cut off his supply of oxygen. Finally, I feel Crew weaken beneath my hold. He drops to his knees, and I only release him once I’m sure he’s knocked out. Stepping around the now limp Crew, I glance at all the wide eyes studying me, and meet the prince’s. Fury ignites his stormy blue irises. He picks himself off the floor and heads toward one of the side chambers, throwing the tattered material aside as he stalks inside. I follow after him. When I step inside the tiny, dank room, my eyes trail Prince Caben as he paces. He reaches each side of the small chamber with three quick strides. Back and forth. On his third round, I open my mouth and get out a single syllable before he holds up a hand, halting me. He drives his hand through his dark hair. “Thank you for making me look like a spineless jerk.” He shakes his head and faces me. Taken aback, I say, “This is my duty to protect—” “No. In your country it was your duty to guard me. In my world and here”—he opens his arms wide—“a man fights his own battles. He does not depend on a woman to fight them for him. You just disgraced me.” Fire simmers in my core. “I’m still assigned as your protector no matter what realm we inhabit, Your High—” I stop myself before addressing him by title out of habit. “Your pride is polluting your reasoning.” He laughs. “Yes, well. Thanks to your show out there, I no longer have my pride to worry about.”

Teaser:
He placed down his pencil and walked across the floor toward me. The crackling energy I’d felt between us the night before when he’d stood over my bed returned now and grew with hot intensity as the space between us disappeared. I was not the only one noticing the sudden charge in the atmosphere between us. He stopped directly in front of me, and even with loud music bouncing off the walls, I could hear the unnaturally fast rhythm of his breathing.

He hesitated a moment and then his hand came up slowly and brushed the hair off my face. His fingertips had only grazed my cheek, but I felt the sensation of his touch through my entire body. He looked back at me as if he’d smoothed his hands over every inch of my skin. The air between us heated and what had started out as a casual session between an artist and his subject had somehow erupted into something completely different.

COVER REVEAL & GIVEAWAY: All My Life by Rucy Ban

Seventeen-year-old Kari meets Neil Mars. “Neil as in Armstrong and Mars…as in Bruno.” A boy who beats every vampire, werewolf, highlander fantasy Kari has ever had. But she knows can’t get close to him. Not ever. Because that would mean telling him everything. Coming clean. And Kari can’t bear the idea of changing the way Neil looks at her. Like she’s the only girl in the world. His reverence is something too precious to lose. Perhaps even at the cost of losing him.
But Kari doesn't know why Neil calls her his ‘Angel’ and when she finds out, she realizes what love is all about. Boundless joy, unending longing and a fuckload of heartache.

EXCERPTS from All My Life:

“I can take care of myself,” I tell him.
His lips twitch in response. “Oh, I’m sure you can, little shrub.”
“You are warned!” I take my voice down a notch and point my ring at him, “I’ll tunnel your leathery knighthood right out of this galaxy!”
Neil suddenly halts in his tracks and pins me down with eyes. “Batman vs. Green Lantern? Batman wins. Every. Single. Time.”
“Ohmygod! So not true. In the…”
He cuts me. “One word…yellow.” I stare at him with my mouth half-open.
“‘Nuff said,” he says smugly and then tugs on my hand.

******
Maybe I’ll forget this feeling someday. Maybe it’ll just be reduced to a memory made up of a flickering gas heater, the salty dew of his skin and the love in his dark, inky eyes. This feeling of pure unadulterated joy. Of reaching a high so potent that your spirit feels like it’s soaring across the universe…and falling from that glorious peak only to find yourself enveloped in someone’s warm caring hands. When you feel like you’ve just died or been born, right at the same time.
It could be that I’ll forget this feeling someday. But I’m sure it won’t be anytime soon. Maybe when I’m a hundred and looking forward to my lunch of mashed bread. Not one single day before.

BLOG TOUR - REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: A Different Blue by Amy Harmon

Blue Echohawk doesn't know who she is.  She doesn't know her real name or when she was born.  Abandoned at two and raised by a drifter, she didn't attend school until she was ten years old.  At nineteen, when most kids her age are attending college or moving on in life, she is just a senior in high school.   With no mother, no father, no faith, and no future, Blue Echohawk is a difficult student, to say the least. Tough, hard and sexy, she is the complete opposite of the young British teacher who decides he is up for the challenge, and takes the troublemaker under his wing.
This is the story of a nobody who becomes somebody.  It is the story of an unlikely friendship, where hope fosters healing and redemption becomes love.  But falling in love can be hard when you don't know who you are.  Falling in love with someone who knows exactly who they are and exactly why they can't love you back might be impossible.

Book Links: Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Smashwords

Author Bio:  Amy Harmon knew at an early age that writing was something she wanted to do, so she divided her time between writing songs and stories as she grew. Having grown up in the middle of wheat fields without a television, with only her books and her siblings to entertain her, she developed a strong sense of what made a good story. Amy Harmon has been a motivational speaker, a grade school teacher, a junior high teacher, a home school mom, and a member of the Grammy Award winning Saints Unified Voices Choir, directed by Gladys Knight. She released a Christian Blues CD in 2007 called "What I Know" - also available on Amazon and wherever digital music is sold.  She lives in the middle of nowhere with her husband and four kids, and doesn't plan to ever move somewhere, because nowhere is sublime.  She has written Running Barefoot, and the Young Adult books Slow Dance in Purgatory and the sequel, Prom Night in Purgatory.  A Different Blue is her fourth novel.

My Thoughts:

"Once upon a time there was a little blackbird, pushed from the nest, unwanted. Discarded. Then a Hawk found her and swooped her up and carried her away, giving her a home in his nest, teaching her to fly. But one day the Hawk didn't come home, and the little bird was alone again, unwanted. She wanted to fly away."

The first thing that I have to say about A Different Blue is that the book description doesn't even begin to describe the journey of emotions that you will take whilst reading it. And it doesn't completely capture how amazing the story truly is. When I read the blurb I thought I was going to get a book that tackled the teacher/student relationship. That is not what I got at all.

Blue Echohawk is a girl who has a past filled with memories of her time spent with Jimmy Echohawk. Abandoned at the age of two Jimmy takes her along with him on his journeys. Travelling the land, Blue has no schooling until at the age of ten when Jimmy passes away. Unlike most of us, Blue has no idea who her parents are, the exact date of her birth or what her real name actually is.

Jimmy's little blackbird died a slow and painful death. In her place I built a gaudy, colorful, blue bird. A loud obnoxious peacock with bright feathers, who dressed to call attention to her beauty at every moment, and craved attention. But it was all just a bright disguise.

Now nineteen and in her last year of school. Blue is attractive, sarcastic, quick witted and not too sure of where she fits into the world. But she is about to have someone enter her life who takes the time to look beneath the surface. Who challenges her and who helps her to find herself and become the person she wants to be.

It was perfectly fine to have a crush on the fictional Mr Darcy, but it wasn't acceptable to have a thing for the real one. And I had a thing for my young history teacher. No doubt about it.

Mr Darcy Wilson is Blue's new History Teacher. He is PERFECT!!! Actually he is so much more than perfect. He is caring, nerdy, gorgeous, musical, British. And he is not at all fazed by the vibes that Blue puts out. He questions her and makes her think. And he genuinely wants to get to know her. I am completely in love with Wilson. I adored everything about him!!

I watched him, the length of his lashes against his cheek, the lean jaw emphasized by the sight shadow of a day's beard. His face was serene, lost in the music that he was creating. And I marveled that he had become my friend. I wondered if there were other men like him. Men who loved history and carried handkerchiefs and opened doors for girls...even girls like me. I didn't know anyone like him.

There are things that are thrown at Blue throughout her journey and that is when we really see how amazingly strong she is. She is brave beyond words. And then there were times that she was vulnerable and exposed. She is such a complete character and I loved her!!!

A Different Blue is not a mile a minute story. It is a story that will hold you in it's clutches from the very start until the very end. And even when you have finished reading it, you will find that it has taken a spot in your heart and that's where it's going to stay. Beautifully sad, beautifully heartbreaking, beautifully uplifting, beautifully perfect. I really can't think of better words to describe A Different Blue. It was emotional. It was breathtaking. It was flawless.

I am now a for life fan of Amy Harmon. I will read whatever she writes. A Different Blue is going at the top of my favourites list and I know that it will be a book that I will lose myself in again.

Excerpt:
Her cheeks turned pink and a frown pulled on her pouty mouth.
“I shouldn’t have come here. I just wanted to say thanks.” Her eyes cut me before she turned and walked away.
She made it to the hood of the waiting car, before my conscious peeked out and slapped the shit out of me.
“Hey,” I called out to her.
She stopped and faced me again. Instantly, I felt like the biggest dick in the south when I saw her eyes brimming with tears. Someone so sensitive didn’t stand a chance around a person like me, but knowing that I’d probably never see her face again made it okay for me to kind of apologize for being myself for some reason.
“I’m rude, but you’ve seen first hand what happens to shiny things in a chop shop,” I gestured to the world around us. “Your best bet is to stay away from these parts, princess. A pretty thing like you wouldn’t last two hours out here. How long were you at The Pit last night before you were dying on the bathroom floor? An hour, tops? Think of my rudeness as a blessing.” I adjusted my guitar case in my sweaty palm and turned toward my trailer door.
I looked back to get one final glimpse of her. The contrast between her and the trailer park around her was alarming, although, with her fair skin, white hair, and pale, blue eyes, I’m sure she stuck out just about anywhere she went. She was unique, a single snowflake with her own icy patterns, and if she stayed in my hell any longer she’d melt.
“Have a nice trip back to Wonderland, Snowflake,” I said, as I opened my the door,
“My name is Patience,” she snapped.
Patience…it was as unique as its owner. I liked it, although, I’d never admit that out loud. Instead, I shook my head and laughed like she had told me a joke, walked inside, and shut her out.

Author Bio:
Tabatha's been writing since she could pick up a pencil. Her first publication was a little poem in her elementary school paper, from that point on she was hooked. When she was a teenager, she traded in her girly magazines for personalized writing notebooks.

Once her daughter was born, writing came back into her life, and she finished her very first novel, Wicked Fate, in May of 2009.
